Rio Property Services - Institute 2 Irmãos
Rio Property Services supports the work of the Two Brothers Foundation (Instituto de Dois Irmaos). If you are interested in helping either through donations or volunteering to teach please contact us for further information. The Two Brothers Foundation is based in Rocinha a favela situated in the Zona Sul of Rio and home to over 250,000 people; they are a non profit organization working to provide educational opportunities through international volunteers and cultural exchange. Over the years, the Two Brothers Foundation has sponsored a variety of educational and cultural projects at their learning centre in the heart of Rocinha. These include classes in English, French, and Spanish, art classes, photography and film, computer training, children’s reading groups, business education and environmental concerns. Rocinha is one of the largest favelas in Brazil, rising over the scenic beaches of Rio de Janeiro nestled onto the mountain Dois Irmaos (Two Brothers) Despite the many problems facing Rocinha, including drugs trafficking and poverty, Rocinha is, in fact, a hub of intense human activity, a place of creativity, energy and hard work, a tight-knit community where neighbours know and care about each other. Despite the positive efforts of the community, local organizations in Rocinha are hindered by a lack of financial resources and institutional support. The Two Brothers Foundation is supported financially by the contributions of individual donors who believe in the cause and by the annual dues of its members.
